ENRICHMENT Curriculum

The Kids N Tech enrichment curriculum was created by experienced teachers, and specifically designed for small community programs. Understanding that these programs often have limited resources, we provide everything you need to implement a high-quality STEM curriculum that is spot on with kids’ and teens’ interests, includes over 50 engaging activities, training for volunteers and teachers, as well as implementation support to help you troubleshoot challenges and ensure that your students are having a successful experience.

Ages 6 - 9

By far one of the most important activities in the curriculum for young participants! This activity empowers students with the knowledge and skills to navigate the online world safely and responsibly. In this project, learners will learn about essential online safety rules and create engaging educational materials to share with their peers, emphasizing the importance of responsible online behavior.

Exploring Technology and Numbers: From 1 – 100

Participants  learn essential math concepts through Exploring Technology and Numbers. This lesson uses digital activities, online apps, and cutting-edge tools to teach students about numbers up to 100. Students will learn about ordering, comparing, word-to-digit conversion, and skip-counting. This lesson helps students develop both math and technology skills.

Scratch Jr is a visual programming language that teaches young children to create their own interactive stories and games by snapping together graphical blocks to make characters move, jump, dance, and sing. They can also modify characters in the paint editor, add their own voices and sounds, and even insert photos of themselves.

Exploring 3-D Shapes and Creating Fun Masks

Kids learn about 3D printing technology and create fun 3D objects using printable templates. This lesson plan is designed to help students learn about three-dimensional shapes and apply their knowledge to create a fun and creative project. Students will be introduced to the concept of three-dimensional shapes and will learn how to identify different types of three-dimensional shapes. Kids will design and create their own fun masks using three-dimensional shapes. This activity will allow students to apply their knowledge of three-dimensional shapes creatively and engagingly. Students will also be able to develop their fine motor skills and problem-solving skills.

SCRATCH

Ages 8+

In this computer science project, we’ll be exploring visual programming through Scratch. Scratch is a user-friendly platform that let students create interactive stories, games, and animations. It’s both fun and a great introduction to coding. You will follow the “I do, We do, You do, teaching approach: first, the teacher demonstrate a simple project; next, teacher and students work together, troubleshooting with support from each other and the teacher; finally, the students will have the chance to try it out on their own. Throughout the project, we’ll focus on creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and collaboration. By the end, students will be amazed at what they can create!

Aerodynamics – The Science of Air

Kids will assemble and design an airplane while learning the fundamentals of aerodynamics. This activity engages kids in hands-on learning while assembling and designing their very own airplanes while delving deep into the essential principles of aerodynamics. Through this immersive activity, kids gain a solid understanding of the science behind flight and the factors that govern it.

Make A Rocket that Blast Over 100ft in the Air!

Kids will build and launch paper rockets using a rocket launcher. They can work alone or collaborate in teams to design and construct their rockets. This hands-on activity teaches participants about physics, engineering, teamwork, and problem-solving. It is the most popular of all Kids N Tech STEM activities.

Curriculum

Ages 10 - 12

Kids N Tech Zippy Bots are mini robots created by attaching basic electronic components that includes a motor, and a power source that is attached to the head of a toothbrush. These bots use vibrations to move and can be customized by adjusting their balance and components for different behaviors. These mini bots are a gateway to basic engineering, motors, circuits, and the principles of balance. The Kids N Tech Zippy Bots activity is a great way to teach basic principles of robotics and engineering in a fun and hands-on way.

Intro to Engineering

In the exciting “Building a Balloon Bridge” engineering challenge, students will step into the shoes of structural engineers to design and construct a bridge using an unconventional combination of materials: classroom chairs and latex-free balloons. This hands-on project will ignite their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while introducing them to the principles of bridge construction and the forces at play.

From Introduction to Production: A Workshop for Young Creators!

In this workshop students will learn the secret sauce behind awesome YouTube channels. This series of lessons will equip students with the skills to get their ideas online and grow a fanbase. This series is perfect for elementary and middle school kids who are interested in creating their own YouTube channels. No prior experience is necessary, just a big dose of creativity!
